Abstract

Modern business organisations are operating under difficult environments as a result of the advent of pandemics, changes in technology, globalisation, climate change and changes in consumer tastes. As such, there is need to adopt a raft of strategies so as to remain viable and productive. Employee voice is one such human resource management strategy that organisations can leverage on for their survival in such complex operating environments. This paper analysed how employee voice can influence the sustainable performance of organisations. Review of related literature method was used in the exploration. From the review, it emerged that the encouragement of employee voice behaviour positively and significantly influences employee innovativeness, employee retention, employee commitment and employee motivation which are the necessary elements for the sustainable performance of organisations. Therefore, it is recommended that organisations consider the adoption of employee voice as a strategy for their enhanced performance. However, a further research is recommended with a practical methodology so as to validate the findings of this review.
