Abstract

Financial Support, Mentorship Quality, Networking Opportunities, Resource Access, Operational Capability, Startup Growth, Funding EffectivenessThis study examines how startup funding and accelerator programs support youth-led enterprises in Nairobi, Kenya. Accelerators such as Nailab and Pangea provide vital mentorship, funding, resources, and networking, particularly benefiting sectors like fintech and agritech. Applying signaling theory reveals that accelerator participation signals startup credibility to investors, lowering information asymmetry and enhancing funding prospects. Analysis of secondary data demonstrates financial support, mentorship quality, and resource access as strong predictors of startup growth, with networking and operational capabilities offering additional benefits. The findings highlight accelerators' multifaceted role in fostering startup success through capacity building and credible signaling. Challenges persist in consistent funding and maximizing networking. The study recommends expanding financial aid, deepening mentorship quality, strengthening networking opportunities, and integrating signaling mechanisms in program design to maximize impact. These actionable insights aim to improve accelerator effectiveness, enabling sustainable scaling and investment attraction in Nairobi’s dynamic youth entrepreneurial ecosystem.
