Abstract
This study evaluates tourism climate comfort for tourism development in Nghi Son Town, Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam, using the Tourism Climate Index (TCI). The methodology includes collecting and processing long-term climatic data, calculating TCI components (CID, CIA, R, S, W) based on the Mieczkowski method, and conducting monthly analysis. The results show that TCI values range from 45.4 to 64.6, indicating clear seasonal variation. The period from December to April presents the most favorable conditions, characterized by mild temperatures, low rainfall, and high sunshine duration. In contrast, the summer–autumn season (June–October) is less favorable due to high temperatures, heavy rainfall, and extreme weather events. However, a mismatch exists between TCI and coastal tourism seasonality, as summer remains the peak period due to the attractiveness of marine resources. The findings provide a scientific basis for climate resource assessment and support sustainable tourism development.
