Abstract

The need for more practical environments for learning is stressed within the area of medicine. An innovative but complicated strategy that professionals may decide to test is virtual reality (VR).  More needs to be done to help students be more prepared and equipped with solving professional issues, not just in theory. To improve VR use within medicine, one must know the trends as well as the gaps within existing research. This review covers innovative techniques and trends for virtual learning environments to help medical students and practitioners get more training and guidance in higher education. It identifies common trends for research concerning medical education and recommends ideas for further exploration of VR as a versatile learning environment
