Abstract

Physical fitness assessment is a crucial basis for monitoring student development and improving the quality of training. However, to date, there is no specific system of physical fitness assessment criteria for students majoring in National Defense and Security Education. This research aims to develop a suitable system of physical fitness assessment criteria for students of the 49th cohort, Faculty of National Defense Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. The research utilizes methods including literature review, expert interviews, anthropometry, biomedical testing, pedagogical testing, and statistical mathematics. Based on a synthesis of domestic and international research, this study developed a system of 28 initial physical fitness indicators and tests. Through expert interviews and reliability testing, the study selected a system of 10 criteria encompassing three components of physical fitness: morphology, function, and fitness. The established criteria system is scientifically sound, reliable, and appropriate to the training characteristics of students majoring in National Defense and Security Education. The research results serve as a basis for evaluating, monitoring, and improving the quality of physical development for students and can also be used as a reference for application at training institutions with similar conditions.
