Gender as Equity: Impact of Gender Disparity in the World of Work: The Cases of Hawassa Industrial Park

Abstract
Gender equality and women empowerment has been considered moral and legal issues. More recently, these issues have taken on a very different connotation, mainly regarding economic efficiency. Gender imbalances affect economic efficiency in the allocation of resources as well as the enhancement of labor productivity for sustainable development in the industrial sector. This research article attempts to discuss gender disparity in the world of work specifically focusing on the cases of Hawassa Industrial Park. Throughout the study, the researcher employed a qualitative research method accompanied by an in-depth data collection tool. Indeed, the study finding reveals that the concern of gender at Hawassa industrial park business and industry companies are not sufficiently engaged in mean-streaming gender issues, and linked to the education sector to influence the skill-set of women and fresh graduates as well as lower to senior existing staff which multifaceted women barriers to level themselves with counter man. As a result, poorly trained staff of the industrial park contributed to low productivity and high staff turnover which affects the efficiency of operating companies within the industrial park.
